The brief
A Colchester pub was relaunching under new management with a new identity: an Indo-English gastro pub pairing British pub tradition with Indian food, colour and hospitality.
The space needed to tell that story the moment a guest walked in — without losing the warmth and familiarity of a local. The brief covered:
- A cohesive interior scheme: paint, colour palette and finishes
- A reworked floor layout to improve flow, seating and the bar experience
- Refreshed branding to anchor the new Indo-English positioning
- A look that felt considered and distinctive, but still welcoming and unmistakably a pub
Our approach
We started by getting under the skin of the new positioning — how to honour both halves of "Indo-English" without leaning too far into either. From there we developed a colour and materials palette, reworked the floor layout for better flow and seating, and carried the new branding through the space so paint, finishes and identity all spoke as one. Decisions were made on site alongside the management team so the result was practical to deliver and ready for a confident relaunch.
